Jim Bittermann 
Jim Bittermann (Journalism ’69) is a CNN Senior Correspondent, based in Paris and co-founder of The Paris Bureau, SARL, a French television production company. He covered landmark international events including the Iraq War in his 25 years of reporting. Beginning his television career in 1970 at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, Wis., he worked for ABC, NBC and CNN. He is a contributor to National Public Radio and Religion and Ethics Newsweekly on PBS. In 1980 he was named Journalism Alumnus of the Year. He joined the faculty of the American University at Paris where he teaches broadcast journalism. He co-authored the book “Live from the Trenches: The Changing Role of the Television News Correspondent.” Mr. Bittermann is the member of the Anglo-American Press Club of Paris, and the Overseas Press Club of New York.  
 
Marcia BullardMarcia L. Bullard 
Marcia L. Bullard (Journalism '74) is President, CEO, and Editor of USA Weekend, America's second most widely circulated magazine. Bullard was founding Editor of USA Today, and she has been employed by the Gannet Organization most of her professional career.  
 
In 1998, she was recipient of the Revlon Business Woman of the Year Award. Revlon CEO, George Fellows, called Bullard "an inspiration to young women who seek to make their mark in Journalism, or any other profession, and at the same time give back their knowledge and spirit to the community."  
 
Her memberships include the Newspaper Association of America, the American Society of Newspaper Editors, and she is a former board member of the Associated Press Managing Editors. Ms. Bullard has taught college journalism and regularly performs volunteer work. 
 
Bullard continues to support journalism students entering the profession, and has also endowed a scholarship in the School of Journalism. 
 
Chris Bury 
Chris Bury is an ABC correspondent and the fill-in anchor of its Nightline. As an ABC correspondent he covered Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, the bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building, and U.S. Military policy in Somalia. He is the recipient of three national Emmy Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Journalism School Award, and a UOI award for outstanding investigative television reporting. Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Alumni Association named Mr. Bury to its roster of distinguished alumni in 2001. 
 
Gary ChapmanGary Chapman 
Gary R. Chapman (Radio-Television '69) is the Chairman, President, and CEO of LIN Television. Chapman began his television career in 1967 with KSDK-TV St. Louis, and has held a variety of executive positions in research, marketing and management at both the station and group levels.  
 
Chapman has also served as chairman of the NAB Television Board (1989-1991) and as Joint Board Chairman of NAB's Committee on Local Television Audience Measurment (COLTAM) and also was the co-chairman of NAB's Personal Diary Project. He also served on the boards of the BEA, the Advanced Television Test Center and the Advisory Board of Governors for the NAB Education Foundation. He currently serves as chairman of the Association for Maximum Service Television and on the board of the Advertising Council. 
 
Randy Daniels 
Randy A. Daniels (Radio-Television ’73) is the Secretary of State of the State of New York. Positions he served in before taking his present position include: Senior Vice President of Canyon Johnson Urban Fund, LL.P., a real estate equity fund based in Beverly Hills, CA.; Senior Vice President and Deputy Commissioner of Economic Revitalization at Empire State Development Corporation; Vice Chairman of the State University of New York Trustees; Press Secretary of the Prime Minister of Bahamas; Managing Director of Jacaranda Nigeria Ltd., a television training program for Nigerian television. He also worked for CBS News.  
 
Sam Glick 
Sam Glick (Radio-Television ’75) is a partner, Vice President and CEO of Davis*Glick Entertainment, a Los Angeles based entertainment marketing firm specializing in the creation of radio spots, television promos, video presentations, and programming for TV stations, program syndicators, networks, cable, home video, motion pictures, and new media. Prior to creating Davis*Glick in 1985, he worked as Marketing and Creative Services Director at WNBC-TV/New York, KTLA –TV/Los Angeles, and KGW-TV/Portland, Oregon. Mr. Glick is the recipient of Emmy, Clio, and PROMAX Gold Medallion Awards. He is a member of PROMAX (Promotion and Marketing Executives in the Electronic Media), HRTS (Hollywood Radio and TV Society), ATAS (Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) and NATPE (National Association of Television and Program Executives).  
 
Steve James 
Steve James (Master of Fine Arts in Film Production '84) is a critically acclaimed, award winning film director, editor and producer. His documentary “Hoop Dreams” received a Director’s Guild Award, and Peaboy and Robert F. Kennedy Awards. 
 
His other major films include: Prefontaine, Passing Glory, Joe and Max and Stevie. He is currently working on a six-hour PBS miniseries, “The New Americans”, documenting the lives of contemporary immigrants and refugees. 
 
Mark KrieschenMark Krieschen 
Mark R. Krieschen was named Vice President and General Manager of Chicago’s WGN-AM Radio in February 2003. Mr. Krieschen oversees the day-to-day operations of Chicago’s top-rated WGN-AM.  
 
In 1998, Mr. Krieschen was Director of Sales of WGN-AM. He was responsible for maximizing revenues for WGN Radio and the Tribune Radio Network. Previously, he spent 10 years as WGN-AM’s local sales manager. He joined the Tribune in 1985 as an account executive at the station. 
 
A native of Chicago, born December 9, 1957, Mr. Krieschen holds a bachelor’s degree in radio and television from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is a Certified Radio Marketing Consultant. Mr. Krieschen is on the Executive Committee of the Radio Broadcasters of Chicagoland. He also serves on the Executive Committee of WGN Radio’s The Neediest Kids Fund, a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors of Gilda’s Club Chicago. 
 
Tribune Broadcasting owns and operates 24 television stations concentrated in major markets and Superstation WGN on national cable. Tribune also owns and operates the Chicago Cubs baseball team. 
 
William Livek 
William P.Livek is founding partner and president of Symmetrical Holdings Inc., and president and CEO of ADcom Information Services, leading media research companies of the country. 
 
Prior to his present position he was a partner in Birch Radio and president/CEO of Birch Scarborough Research. He also served as the vice president of Radio Sales and Marketing for the Arbitron Company. 
 
Milcho Manchevski 
Milcho Manchevski has over 50 short forms (experimental films, documentaries, music videos, commercials), awards for best experimental film (for "1.72" at the Belgrade Alternative Festival), best MTV and Billboard video (for Arrested Development's "Tennessee," which also made Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 best videos ever), screenplays, and direction on "Before The Rain" (1994) and "Dust" (2001) to his credit. 
 
"Before The Rain" won thirty awards at international festivals, including best film in Venice, an Independent Spirit award, an Oscar nomination, and a place in The New York Times' book "Best 1,000 Films Ever Made." 
 
Mr. Manchevski has authored a book of fiction, "The Ghost Of My Mother" and a book of photographs "Street" (accompanying an exhibition.) He has also had fiction and essays published in New American Writing, La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Sineast, etc. He practices performance art with the group 1AM (founder) and by himself. 
 
He lives in New York City. 
 
Norm Pattiz 
Norman J. Pattiz is Chairman of Westwood One, America’s largest radio network organization, and a major supplier of traffic, news and sports programming to local TV stations.  
 
Mr. Pattiz serves on the executive committee of the United States Broadcasting Board of Governors (USBBG), which oversees all U.S. non-military international broadcasting. Mr. Pattiz spearheaded the creation of the USBBG’s new Middle East Radio Network (Radio Sawa) and is currently leading the development of a new U.S. sponsored Arabic language satellite TV channel to the entire Middle East. 
 
Other bodies Mr. Pattiz has served include: the Board of Regents of the University of California, the Broadcast Education Association, the Board of Councilors of the Annenberg School for Communication at USC, Hamilton High Academy of Music (LAUSD’s Magnet School for Music and Performing Arts), the Center for Middle East Public Policy, the State of California’s Commission on Building for the 21st Century, the Museum of Television & Radio, the Hollywood Radio and Television Society, Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and the Earth Communications Office (ECO). 
 
He received an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University. Other awards include: the Distinguished Education Service Award from the Broadcast Education Association, the Freedom of Speech Award from NARTSH, Radio Business Report’s “Executive of the Year,” The Gallagher Report’s “Radio Industry Executive of the Year,” and Executive Magazine’s “Executive of the Year.”  
 
Judith RoalesJudith Roales 
Judith Roales (Journalism, '65), a veteran newspaper writer, editor, and publisher, recently retired as Publisher of The St. Petersburg Times - the largest newspaper in the state of Florida. Roales sits on the boards of directors of Congressional Quarterly Inc., Trend Magazines, Inc., and Tampa Bay Newspaper, Inc. Roales is also a Trustee of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, Inc., which owns the Times. Before joining the Times in 1994, she was President of Independent Newspapers, Inc., a group of 24 daily and weekly papers in Deleware, Maryland, Arizona and Florida. Roales began her newspaper career as a journalist, and became a nationally recognized reporter specializing in government, energy, and the environment. She has also held high-level positions in the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.  
 
Susan D. Sanford 
Susan D. Sanford is a partner and the executive vice president of Symmetrical Holdings, Inc., a leading media research company of the country. Before joining Symmetrical, she served as vice president of product management for VNU Operations. 
 
Sanford’s 20-year career spans syndicated media research, custom research and media planning/buying.  
 
Rod ZimmermanRod Zimmerman 
Rod Zimmerman was appointed to lead the efforts of all seven outstanding Infinity Chicago Radio stations in January of 2003. His leadership skills and proven track record made him the logical choice to build upon the success of the Infinity Radio Chicago Group. In his current role, Mr. Zimmerman spearheads the efforts to work together as a cluster to leverage the Infinity Radio Chicago Group to effectively grow market and revenue share. 
 
In March of 1998, Mr. Zimmerman was named Vice President, General Manager of WBBM Newsradio 780 and has taken the station to new heights in both revenue and ratings growth. Prior to taking on the responsibilities at WBBM Newsradio 780, Mr. Zimmerman spent six years as Vice President, General Manager of Infinity owned KMOX. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Zimmerman was Vice President, General Manager of two CBS stations in Detroit, WWJ and WJOI. From 1985 to 1988, he was General Sales Manager at WBBM Newsradio 78.
